Our Studio

The concept of creating a yoga studio in the beautiful 18th Century building at 27 Portland Square was first established in 2017. It was born of a derelict space, a passion for yoga and wellness, and the idea of forming and welcoming a wonderful community in the heart of Bristol.

One year later and after much thought, planning and hard work, Yoga on the Square opened its doors for the very first classes on Monday 17th September 2018!

We are a family-run studio, with community at the heart of what we do. We offer a wide range of classes with many wonderful teachers. We welcome you to share this space and hope that you find the class you need to leave us relaxed and with strength and openness to carry on your day.

Our Green Policy

We care about our environment and this beautiful planet we inhabit and therefore try to make a difference in the ways that we can.

We have installed Infrared Heating Panels in our Studio space, which use dramatically less energy than traditional heating methods. They also have health benefits! Infrared rays are 100% safe and can boost your immune system, improve blood circulation and even reduce joint pain and stiffness, as well as effectively warming you and the space.

We have reduced our paper use by providing individual towels for drying your hands in our downstairs bathroom. We also source all our toilet paper from ‘Who Gives A Crap’ – made from environmentally-friendly materials, they donate half of all their profits to help build toilets for those in need in developing countries.

We also care about the non-human animals we share our planet with. We offer a range of plant-based milks to go in your tea and all snacks or cake available at the studio will always be vegan.

We are striving to reduce our use of single-use plastics and therefore recycle as much as possible at the studio. We have water fountains and glass water decanters available so please bring along your refillable bottles.

If you have any suggestions for how we can lessen our impact on the environment and further help our planet, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and let us know!
