Embodied Women’s Circle
Monthly Sunday Sessions
3.15 – 5.15pm
Next session: 15th March 2020
Have you lost the connection to your inner wild, wise woman? Kirstie’s embodied women’s circles facilitate the intuitive wisdom of our mind, body and breath to re-member and re-connect: both to ourselves and to one another. The circles are open to all women, regardless of background. The structure of each session will vary each month, but will include elements such as meditation, breathwork, sharing as a group, exercises in small groups or pairs, and yoga or movement (no experience or fitness level necessary, but wear clothes you’re comfortable to move in). The circle offers space for women to connect, share, grow, and reflect in a safe, nourishing, non-judgemental space. The aim of the circles is to facilitate self-inquiry about how we relate to ourselves, each other and the wider world, and to learn from one another and lift each other up. Whilst Kirstie is a psychologist these circles aren’t therapy; but they will be informed by evidence-based practice.
Kirstie found her way to yoga through the realisation that due to our fast paced, busy lives, we often live in our heads – which means we miss important information our bodies are trying to tell us. With a background as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Systemic Practitioner, as well as a 300hr qualified yoga teacher, Kirstie aims to teach ‘yoga for your life’, weaving in embodied yoga, meditiation, breathing exercises, and aspects of mental wellbeing and self-inquiry to be used both on and off the yoga mat. Kirstie found embodied yoga practices to be the perfect bridge between yoga and psychology, facilitating psychological self-awareness through somatic explorations. Having immersed herself in the fundamentals of classical Ashtanga, Kirstie now encourages students to connect to their own intuitive styles of movement and inner wisdom, rather than focusing on precise shapes.
Kirstie currently works in the NHS with children and adolescents, as well as in private practice with adults. She has completed a variety of different yoga trainings, courses and workshops, from Ashtanga to vinyasa, Iyengar to acro-yoga, and children’s yoga to Embodied Yoga Principles. Kirstie is currently completing her 500hr advanced yoga teacher training in Embodied Flow™ with Tara Judelle and Dr Scott Lyons.
